ALLEGANY CO., N.Y. — Held on Tuesday, July 17th this year’s show opened with senior showmanship all three exhibitors receiving blue ribbons: Carissa Hilsher, Cole Armison and Rachel Marsh. The Senior Sheep Showmanship award sponsored by Bob and Donna Wilson was presented to Carissa Hilsher.
Junior Showmanship, Caleb Hilsher received 1st blue ribbon and was awarded a trophy donated by Bob and Donna Wilson. Also receiving blue ribbons: Sara Armison and Jim Eshelman.
In the novice divisions Sarah Wilson received a blue ribbon and the Novice Showmanship award donated by Bob and Donna Wilson.
The top 2 from each divisions competed for Grand Champion Showmanship. This year’s winner Carissa Hilsher received a plaque sponsored by Bugman and Son. Reserve Grand Champion Showmanship winner was Sarah Wilson received a banner donated by Kopper Keg.
Halter Showmanship with 7 participants; 1st blue Carissa Hilsher, second blue Rachel Marsh, also receiving blues Cole Armison, Sara Armison, Jim Eshelman, Caleb Hilsher and Sarah Wilson. Receiving participation ribbons, Clover Bud exhibitors Ben Eshelman and Jeffery Wilson.
Following the showmanship division market classes were held. Results for these classes:
Light Weight 1st blue exhibited by Rachel Marsh, 2nd & 3rd blue Jim Eshelman. Medium Weight blue ribbon winners Sarah Wilson, Rachel Marsh and Caleb Hilsher. Heavy Weight all receiving blues Carissa Hilsher with 1st and 2nd followed by Caleb Hilsher, Cole Armison and Sara Armison.
Grand Champion Lamb winner Carissa Hilsher and Reserve Grand Champion Lamb winner was Sarah Wilson. Both received banners sponsored by Dave’s Printing and Lakewood Veterinary Service.
In our Youth Breeding Sheep Sarah Wilson exhibited a blue ribbon Commercial Ram and received a blue ribbon for her flock consisting of 3 blue ribbon winning Cheviots ewes and her Cheviot ram. Her Cheviot’s were awarded Grand Champion Ewe and Ram, each received a trophy sponsored by Bob and Donna Wilson.
This year’s judge for the Sheep Show, Laureen Howe from Wayland, NY provided positive feedback and tips for youth as he places classes throughout the day. Congratulations to all the youth on a successful show.
