ORANGE CO., N.Y. — Enter your home grown flowers, herbs, or flower arrangements and you could win a Blue Ribbon or other prize! The contest is part of Cornell Cooperative Extension Orange County’s Family Fun Day, to be held on Sat. July 29 at the Education Center and 4-H Park in Otisville. There is no admission charge for this annual family friendly event, all are welcome. Entry form, rules and more information about the Horticulture Show categories and Family Fun Day can be found at cceorange.org.
Your flowers or floral creations can be entered and displayed in these exciting categories:
- Succulent Dish Garden: A container with a width of 12-16”. A minimum of 5 different varieties of established succulents.
- Flower Arrangement
a. Tea Cup Arrangement: A collection of 5 different home-grown species of flowering annuals and or perennials in a standard 6-8 ounce tea cup.
b. Quart: A collection of 7 different home-grown species of flowering annuals and or perennials in a clear quart-size container. - Garden Art: Chair Planter: Designers choice of any living plants incorporated into a chair.
- Annuals: 3 blooms, same variety in a clear container.
- Perennials: 3 blooms, same variety in a clear container.
- Herbs: Any cut fresh herb. 3 stems, same variety in a clear container.
Entries will be accepted on July 28, 2017 from 10am to 12pm at the Education Center & 4-H Park and will remain on display through Family Fun Day on July 29th.This contest is open to adults. All entries must be grown by the exhibitors. If you would like to enter, please return the entry form and a $2 fee (per entry) to Cornell Cooperative Extension Orange County, 18 Seward Ave., Ste. 300, Middletown, NY 10940 by July 26, 2017.
Prizes include: 1st place blue ribbon, 2nd place red ribbon, and 3rd place white ribbon in each category.
Best in Class and Best in Show categories win a prize of a Gardening in Orange County subscription or a voucher towards a Community Horticulture class at CCEOC.
