COLUSA, Calif. — Butte County Sheriff Kory Honea will provide the keynote address at the 16th annual Colusa Farm Show Rabobank Breakfast. The breakfast will take place on Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2018, in Saint Bernadette’s Hall, 745 Ware St., in Colusa, California, beginning at 7 a.m.
In Feb. 2017, Sheriff Honea played a key role in managing the public safety response to the Oroville Dam Spillway incident and was responsible for ordering the Feb. 12 evacuation of the areas threatened by the potentially catastrophic failure of the Dam’s Emergency Spillway.
Breakfast committee chairman Les Heringer said the committee was eager to invite Sheriff Honea to speak about the series of events that garnered national attention.
“It was a very tense and frightening situation for all involved, but with Sheriff Honea’s leadership in ordering and managing the evacuation, all the right moves were made,” Heringer said.
Roland Fumasi, senior vice president and agricultural economist for Rabobank’s Food & Agribusiness Research and Advisory (FAR) group, will provide the annual economic report. Fumasi and his team analyze and conduct market research on California agribusiness as well as the North American fresh fruit and produce sectors.
Hosted by alumni of the California State University, Chico College of Agriculture, California Agricultural Leadership Foundation, and Alpha Gamma Rho, the event has raised nearly $400,000 for scholarships and leadership programs in its 15-year history.
Sponsorships are still available, and tickets can be purchased in advance for $40 by contacting the College of Agriculture Office at 530-898-5844. The ticket price will rise to $50 at the door. All proceeds go to the CSU, Chico College of Agriculture and the California Agricultural Leadership Foundation.
