DALLAS, Texas — The 15th Annual Big Tex® Choice Awards will take place on Sunday, August 25 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the historic Tower Building at Fair Park. The 2019 Big Tex Choice Awards is presented by Metro by T-Mobile and will once again give Fair fans the chance to taste the top 10 finalists, with five savory and five sweet dishes making the cut this year. This annual competition doubles as a fundraising event for the Big Tex Scholarship Program, which provides college scholarships for students throughout the Lone Star State.
Each year, State Fair concessionaires cook up tasty and unique foods for a chance to become one of the finalists in the annual Big Tex Choice Awards food competition. On Sunday, August 25, the finalists will compete for the titles of “Best Taste – Savory,” “Best Taste – Sweet,” and “Most Creative” at this year’s State Fair of Texas.

WHERE: The Tower Building in Fair Park: 3809 Grand Avenue, Dallas, TX 75210. Parking will be at Gate 3, off Parry Avenue and Washington Street. Drive down to the parking lot across from the Hall of State (where the Chevrolet Main Stage will sit during the Fair). If you plan to bring a live or satellite truck, please contact the State Fair of Texas PR office before Sunday to reserve a spot.
WHO: All 10 finalists, the event emcees, and celebrity judges will be on-hand following the announcement, along with representatives from the State Fair of Texas. There will be opportunities for interviews following the announcement.
WHY: All proceeds from the Big Tex Choice Awards ceremony will be donated to the Big Tex Scholarship Program. In 2019, the Fair awarded nearly $1.25 million in new college scholarships to students throughout the Lone Star State. Eligible recipients include graduating high school seniors from around the state of Texas who have competed in State Fair livestock events, graduating seniors from six Fair Park area DISD schools, and eligible State Fair of Texas seasonal employees or their dependents.
