WARSAW, N.Y. — Mark your calendars for the 14th Annual Garden Day Educational Fair and Plant Sale on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at the Wyoming County Agriculture and Business Center located at 36 Center Street in Warsaw,New York. This year we are again having a farmer’s market style event, promoting local businesses, small craft vendors, and locally grown plant stock. Our event is presented by the Wyoming County Cornell Cooperative Extension Master Gardener Volunteers.
Master Gardener Volunteers provide educational gardening outreach opportunities to children, adults and community groups, as well as accurately fielding horticulture related questions from the public. Events will include a Master Gardener donated perennial plant sale, chance auction, free soil testing, general horticultural guidance, and a disease resistant tomato variety sale. Vendors will be providing locally produced items, as well as educational opportunities on production of items like honey and maple goods. This year we will feature guest speaker Dr. Anthony Shelton, Professor of Entomology at Cornell University College of Agriculture and Life Science at Cornell AgriTech in Geneva. He will give a talk on genetically modified agricultural products focusing on how the various genetically modified products are made, what is currently on the market, how they are regulated, and their environmental impact. Dr. Shelton will be speaking at 11am inside the Ag & Business Center downstairs in Room LC1.
