BEACON, N.Y. — The New York Cider Association is thrilled to announce, in response to the challenges presented by the Covid-19 pandemic, this year’s Cider Week Hudson Valley is going to be held virtually. The on-line festival will run from Saturday, June 20 – Sunday, June 28, 2020. The schedule will include a week of virtual tastings, orchard tours, happy hour cocktail recipe video tutorials, chef and cider pairing online dinner dates, online panel conversations, and more. “Now in its 10th year, Cider Week Hudson Valley is known for creating connections between the region’s cider makers and apple growers to craft beverage and farm-to-table enthusiasts. Given the current environment of social distancing, we see this as an opportunity to try something new and continue the tradition of celebrating cider in the Hudson Valley,” says Scott Ramsey, Executive Director of the New York Cider Association.

One distinct event for virtual Cider Week Hudson Valley is a “Farm-to-Home” dinner date produced by Glynwood in association with Executive Chef of 232 Bleecker, Suzanne Cupps, and Artisan Wines of Beacon. The audience can pre-purchase a cook-at-home dinner box complete with a recipe, ingredients and an optional cider pairing. A video, airing at 6:30pm on Sunday, June 28, will feature Chef Cupps instructing on how to prepare the meal and Tim Buzinski of Artisan Wines discussing his selections of cider and how each of them consider the pairing of cider with each course. Although the festival is free, donations will be accepted. Most importantly, the New York Cider Association is donating 20% of proceeds raised through donations to the Restaurant Workers Community Foundation focused on Covid-19 relief and issues of Social Justice. Glynwood launched Cider Week in 2011 as a way to connect trade professionals to farm-based cider producers in the region while increasing public awareness and appreciation for hard cider.
